I finally got the dehydrator! No more china made jerky for them-health hazard. This is the experiment batch. I cut it in varying sizes to know which will work best. The thinner i cut, the shorter the drying process? TADA!! My very own dehydrator Chicken sliced and ready to be place in it. The end results Gita and Rusty being all goody good while waiting for treat. Gita will be extending her stay for a couple of months. She has settled in well, always asking for tummy rub.
That's where you will find her if there is something cooking in the kitchen. They have finally reach the 3mths mark. Couldn't stand their pungent smell any longer. It's BATH TIME!!! Clean and fresh! Time to enjoy vege after wash and trim
My gps have 'saved' enough hay and pellets to move from the ground floor to the top floor! They have no more worries of a big white and brown "monster" whining and scaring the poo out of them! Almost complete construction. About time to take their key to their new 'flat' Officially moved in! Hooray!
My two orphaned guinea pig is reaching 1 mth in a few more days. And all along i thought the brown piggy is a male and abby is a female.Turns out i was wrong!! OH MY! and i have being calling them the wrong name this whole time. I'm still trying to adjust to the name switch as my brain has already 'tagged' the name to the pig Duh....How blur can i get?! The one who is gonna go under the knife has now switch to Abby Rio! My Poor 'boy'! LOL. This is their current cage setup till they can be mix together. Rio will be all alone in a few days time... :( And alone for many many many many many months....... My two baby orphan guinea pigs is now 1 week old! Can i safely say that they will be able to make it through? All the 1-2 hour feeding made me such a wreck this whole week, with me juggling my job, my other pets and their exhausting feeding.... I have decided to name the brown piggy Rio(Male) and the tri-colour piggy Ria(Female). It has been very rewarding to see them slowly increasing their intake of solid food and vegetables. Ria started eating vege at the age of 3 days old while it took Rio 5 days before he even nibble at it. Might be due to the fact that Ria is very attached to Bambi and was mimicking her every move. That is how they eat their veges, apparently Bambi didn't bother to teach them any table manners. Bambi gets so fed up and irritated by the two pesky little ones that she just freeze at a corner and let them do whatever they want as chasing them away don't work! My Family of Three
Got a suprise in the afternoon and a tragedy following that....
1pm+ Found out my Rika had given birth to two piggies. Was so excited but it took a turn when i found out that there was something hanging outside that doesn't look right. Rushed her and the babies to the vet. Guess what was it? Her Intestine... Vet said she can operate but a very slim chance for her to recover as her intestine was starting to turn black. I went ahead with the surgery as i wanted to give her a chance. Vet found out her uterus had broke, causing her to push her intestine out and she had lost a lot of blood. 7+ Got a call that she was weakening and suggested i made my way down quickly. At that time i had just alighted at the bus stop near the clinic..Went in with a heavy heart, vet said Rika had just passed away a few minutes ago. Devastated as Rika was my first female pig, my first pregnant piggy and the most outgoing and outspoken piggy i ever had. I was so hopping that she will survive, but she couldn't make it... She left behind her two babies who's future is unsure off without having drank any of their mum's milk. Rika and Bambi have been with me for more than a week. They are settling in and getting use to my routine. Rika is like a big goofball, always bringing a smile to my face when i see her. She wheek whenever i call her and the little balll of fluff is always hungry, stepping right up to me to beg for food! Though i am suspecting she is pregnant as she has a noticeable belly. Most probably she got impregnated when she was with her previous owner. Hoping that she will make it through her preganacy safely. Bambi on the other hand is shy and wary, the complete opposite of Rika. She will flee at the slightest touch while Rika will purr in satisfaction and lay flat for me to sayang. But Bambi is slowly warming up as she is inching closer to me when i hand feed her veges.
