Gita is a long term boarder at my house. She's been at my house for about a year plus already and will be here till her owner settles down in Singapore.
She used to be a stray in Lim Chu Kang area till she was caught in a wild boar trap in the forest when she was about 1+ year old. She managed to escape from the trap. But in doing so, the flesh from her paw was ripped off. What was left when she was found was her paw bones dangling where her paw should be!
She recovered well and got adopted. But after a few years, her owner decided to move back to Australia. She was supposed to fly there with her owner and her other dog. But just when everything else was settled, one of her test result prevented her from flying to Australia as they are very strict on the criteria. Thus she had to stay and receive treatment and do a 2nd test. But she failed the test again. Thus her owner decides to move back with her other dog first and plan from there. After a while, her owner decides to move back to Singapore. So until her owner settles back down in Singapore, Gita will be with us.

As front leg of a canine supports around 70% of their body weight, it is quite taxing on her to walk far. Thus her walks are limited to 20mins per walk with rests in between. She's one smart doggy who knows which direction and road leads back to home no matter how far and where you go unlike my Rusty boy who can get lost even in the block itself... She will stop or keep turning back to the home direction if she wants to go back! No matter how you turn direction or change route, she will always pin point the correct direction back! Her 1 year plus as a stray must have trained her into having a good sense of direction.
She loves to snuggle up to humans and would spend her day resting away. Unlike Rusty, she doesn't play with toys and would prefer to spend her day observing and sleeping
She loves rolling about in the grass (only when its dry!). Doesn't like stepping on wet grass/floor and would always turn back to the direction of the lift the moment she finish her business when the grass/floor is wet. I would always wonder how she survive in the wild last time if she is so princess like!
Seeing her run (yes she can still run fast!)and play has proved that they can still live life to the fullest even if they lose a limb. Never give up!
